Most popular photo from >Gunsmoke. Dennis and his Horse. Dennis played the character of Chester for nine seasons. During that time, the name “Chester” was a household word. People named their children and their dogs “Chester.” His endearing character warmed the hearts of fans everywhere. Dennis won an Emmy for his role in Gunsmoke during the 1958-59 season.

Most popular McCloud photo. Dennis is wearing his famous sheepskin coat Many people ordered coats like this one during the time of the series – 1971-1977. And many NYC and LA policemen grew mustaches. The McCloud character endeared itself to millions of television viewers because Sam Mc Cloud was always for the underdog.
